How to book Billy Elliot

3 Oscar nominations, massive box office success and worldwide critical acclaim made the 2000 film Billy Elliot one of the biggest British hits to date. 5 years later this touching and moving story was brought back to life on the stage and has been inspiring and entertaining West End theatre audiences ever since.

Billy Elliot the Musical is a fantastic adaptation of the magnificent film that sees one 11 year old boy break the mould and fight against the odds to follow his dreams of becoming a dancer. Set in a working class North England town, against the backdrop of the violent 1980’s miner’s strike, Billy Elliot the Musical has a gritty realism underlying what is a fabulous feel good story.

The story follows Billy who faces potential ridicule and shame, Billy must train in private with the help of his supportive Ballet Teacher and hide his love of dancing from his stern, working class farther. However, when the audition of a life time comes knocking, Billy must either risk disappointing his family or say goodbye to his dancing dreams.

With a musical score by Sir Elton John and the same award-winning creative team that were behind the film (writer Lee Hall, director Stephen Daldry and choreographer Peter Darling), Billy Elliot the Musical pays real homage and honour to what is now a classic British movie.

Please Note: Billy Elliot the Musical contains strong language and some scenes of confrontation between policemen and miners. When booking theatre break tickets for parties including children, please consider the film version of Billy Elliot (rated 15) and whether this would be suitable for all members of your party. Our recommended minimum age for this show is 12.

Billy Elliot Theatre Breaks always includes tickets with hotel accommodation, and the number of tickets you request must be the same as the number of hotel guests.
