How to book Broken Glass

Following its record breaking run at the Tricycle theatre Broken Glass the play transfers to the West Ends Vaudeville theatre from the 14th September to the 10th December. Written by Arthur Miller, Broken Glass the play won the Laurence Olivier Award for Play of the Year in 1995.

Set in 1938 Broken Glass the play follows the story of Phillip and Sylvia Gellburg, a New York Jewish couple living in Brooklyn. While Philip is obsessed by his work, and trying to escape his own Jewish heritage, he has little time for his wife, but when Sylvia becomes partially paralysed after reading about the events of Kristallnacht in the paper something must be done.

Philip brings in Dr. Harry Hyman to help get to the root of Sylvia’s problems, diagnosed with hysterical paralysis her symptoms are psychosomatic but the Dr pursues with his treatment. As the Dr comes closer to finding the source of Sylvias troubles, it is revealed that there are problems in the couple’s relationship, problems that could have disturbing consequences for the family.

Broken Glass the play stars award winning actor Antony Sher and Tara Fitzgerald in the lead roles, with Stanley Townsend playing the role of Dr. Harry Hyman.

The Vaudeville Theatre is located on the Strand; there has been a theatre at this site since 1870, with the current one being only the third. The Vaudeville Theatre seats 690 people.
