Seen by more than a million people in the West End alone the award winning Sister Act embarks on its first UK tour. The New York production opened on Broadway in April 2011 and has been nominated for five Tony Awards.
Based on the 1992 film of the same name Sister Act Cardiff is a divine musical comedy. When lounge singer Deloris Van Cartier is the only witness to a murder she is placed in the unlikeliest witness protection in the Holy Order of the Little Sisters of Our Mother of Perpetual Faith convent. Forced to give up alcohol, smoking and physical pleasures she throws herself into the choir and learns to love the nuns and deal with the stark contrasts between her lounge singer life and the strict rules of the Mother Superior.
Sister Act, Cardiff features a score by the Oscar winning Alan Menken lyrics from Glenn Slater, while the book was written by the award-winning team of Cheri and Bill Steinkellner.
As part of the shows first UK tour Sister Act Cardiff will perform a 12 day run at the Wales Millennium Centre. Sister Act Cardiff will play at the venue from the 24th July to the 4th August 2012.
Sister Act, Cardiff will feature Denise Black best known for her role in Coronation Street and Michael Starke better known as Sinbad from Brookside as well as Cynthia Erivo who will be playing nun on the run Deloris Van Cartier.
