How to book The 39 Steps

Based on the book by John Buchan’s and memorably known as the classic Alfred Hitchcock spy thriller, The 39 Steps has been thrillingly adapted for the stage. The story follows the adventures of Richard Hannay, the handsome hero as he encounters scheming murders, double crossing secret agents and stunning women. The 39 Steps, London is a smash hit, Olivier Award Winning, hilarious comedy.

This fast paced and gripping comedy thriller features four actors playing over 139 roles in 100 minutes of inventive action. Every memorable scene from the Hitchcock film is included in the stage version such as the chase on the Flying Scotsman, the dramatic escape on the Forth Bridge, the first theatrical bi-plane crash ever staged and the near death-defying finale at the London Palladium.

Since 2006 the Criterion Theatre has been home to The 39 Steps, London and since the theatres opening in 1874 it has enjoyed a rich history. Once used by the BBC as a safe studio from the London blitz the theatre saw many light entertainment programmes recorded and broadcast live.

Now in its 5th year are the Criterion Theatre, the 7th West End cast for The 39 Steps, London will take to the stage. The cast includes Rufus Wright as Richard Hannay, Laura Rogers as Pamela, Annabella and Margaret and Dermot Canavan and Sean Kearns as Man 1 and Man 2 playing the famous 139 roles.
